On 29th October 2011, we observed and recorded the United Families and Friends Campaign demonstration in Trafalgar Square, London. Over the past 13 years thousands have gathered for the annual march against deaths in police, prison and health care custody. Most of them are family members who have lost their loved ones in suspicious or unexplained circumstances. We interviewed a cross section of people on the demonstration. Each observing team asked a set of questions about why they were on the demonstration, about their experiences and what they hoped to achieve. The observations that we made are available online. Some interviews were conducted with family members and some with supporters of the demonstration.
